Frame Rate

Frame rate, measured in frames per second (FPS), determines how smooth or stylized motion appears in AI-generated video. Common rates include 24 FPS (cinematic), 30 FPS (standard), and 60 FPS (smooth).

Frame rate is the number of individual images (frames) displayed per second in a video, measured in frames per second (FPS). It determines how smooth or stylized the motion appears.

How it works

Video is an illusion — a rapid sequence of still images that the brain perceives as continuous motion. The frame rate is how many of those images appear each second. At 24 FPS, the brain fills in the gaps between frames, creating the slightly fluid, cinematic look of traditional film. At 60 FPS, the motion is so dense that it appears hyper-smooth, which is why sports and gaming content favor it.

Common frame rates

  • 24 FPS — the cinematic standard. Slightly stuttery motion that feels filmic and intentional.
  • 30 FPS — the broadcast and web standard. Smooth enough for most content without looking hyperreal.
  • 60 FPS — smooth motion for sports, gaming, and fast-action content. Can feel "too smooth" for narrative film.
  • 120 FPS — used for slow-motion. Playback at 24 FPS creates a 5x slow-motion effect.

In AI video generation

AI video models generate a fixed number of frames per clip. A model that produces 48 frames at 24 FPS gives you a 2-second clip; at 30 FPS, the same 48 frames is 1.6 seconds. The frame rate affects both the duration and the feel of the generated video.

In eaxy

Eaxy's video generation handles frame rate automatically based on the selected style and output format. For cinematic clips, it defaults to 24 FPS; for social media reels, 30 FPS. You can specify a target frame rate in the generation settings.

Perguntas frequentes

What is a good frame rate for AI video?+

24 FPS gives a cinematic look, 30 FPS is standard for web content, and 60 FPS produces smooth motion ideal for sports and gaming content. Most AI video models generate at 24 or 30 FPS by default.

Does higher FPS mean better AI video quality?+

Not necessarily. Higher FPS means smoother motion, but quality depends on the model, resolution, and prompt. A well-generated 24 FPS clip can look better than a poorly generated 60 FPS one.

Can I change the frame rate of an AI-generated video?+

Yes. You can specify the frame rate when generating, or use interpolation to add frames after generation. Eaxy handles frame rate as part of the video generation settings.
